ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center has designated an area of disturbed weather in the Caribbean as Invest 97L.
As a result, specialized computer models will be run on the system starting Saturday afternoon.
The system is expected to drift toward Jamaica over the weekend and could move into the Gulf of Mexico by the middle of next week.
Beyond that, uncertainly lies as to where the system could track due to a complex steering pattern.

Anyone along the northern and eastern Gulf coast should monitor the progress of this system over the next week or so.
Hurricane hunters are expected to investigate the storm Sunday.
