ORLANDO, Fla. – Potential Tropical Cyclone 19 on Thursday afternoon became Tropical Storm Sara, packing sustained winds of 40 mph and moving to the west at 12 mph.
The latest forecast shows the storm continuing its westward path through the western Caribbean on Thursday, then slowing down near Honduras by Friday and stalling near Central America through the weekend.
This will bring heavy rainfall and dangerous flash flooding to parts of Central America.

By late Sunday into Monday, Sara will bring strong winds and heavy rain to the Yucatan Peninsula. Interaction with land will prevent Sara from strengthening.
The storm is expected to then move into the Gulf of Mexico as a depression.
Long-range models suggest it will interact with a strong cold front, causing wind shear and further weakening.
The front could also bring tropical moisture to Florida by Wednesday or Thursday.
