ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida can expect a comfortable but breezy weekend with little to no rain.
Friday’s cold front brought cooler and drier air to the region, and another stronger cold front is expected next week. Before that arrives, Saturday afternoon temperatures will reach the mid to upper 70s across Central Florida.
Northeasterly winds of 5-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph will create hazards along the coast, including a risk of coastal flooding and high rip currents through Sunday due to high tides.
The first half of next week will be mostly dry. However, moisture from Tropical Storm Sara is expected to reach Central Florida by Wednesday, bringing a 60-70% chance of rain.
Once the cold front passes on Wednesday evening, cooler air will move in, with Thursday morning temperatures dropping to the low to mid 50s. It will be a windy day with highs in the mid to upper 60s, finally feeling like fall.
Tropical Storm Sara has stalled near Honduras, dumping heavy rain, and as of the latest update, has winds of 45 mph and isn’t moving.
It’s expected to start moving Saturday afternoon, heading toward the Yucatán Peninsula, where land interaction will weaken it. While the storm’s leftover moisture may reach the Gulf of Mexico, it’s unlikely to reorganize due to the incoming cold front. There are no tropical threats to Central Florida at this time.
