ORLANDO, Fla. – It has snowed in Florida before, but this is something you don’t see every day.
A historic winter storm swept across the South, from Texas to Florida, dumping record-breaking snow.
The first-ever blizzard warning was issued along parts of the Gulf Coast, from just north of Houston to Central Louisiana.
The previous greatest snowfall amount ever recorded in Florida is 4 inches, which fell in Milton on March 6, 1954. That record was shattered after Milton received 8.8 inches of snow in the last 24 hours.
Pensacola received 7.6 inches, breaking its previous record of 3 inches, set in 1895.
Weather records date back to the late 1800s.
