ORLANDO, Fla. – The clouds are dense, and the arctic air even denser. As such, our Thursday is starting on the dreary and wet side. Showers will linger through the day Thursday, before another immense dose of frigid air arrives for Central Florida.
By the time we wake up Saturday morning, we’ll be kicking off the weekend in the coldest air we’ve seen so far for the winter season. Morning lows could reach the upper 20s for our northern viewers, and the greater Orlando area will be faced with low to mid 30s. A reminder - these will be the actual air temps.
In recent days, we’ve discussed heavily the wind chill and how this makes the air feel much colder than it is. By Saturday morning, the air itself will have cooled down to the 20s and 30s. Then we can begin factoring in wind chill.

On Sunday afternoon, our afternoon temperatures will jump back into the 70s for many of us!
From the coldest weather to the warmest we’ve been in a considerable stretch of time! I can already feel my immune system suffering.
If you’re excited for the big thaw to finally occur, it gets even better. Well, maybe.
Because as we work our way through the last full week of January, we could see the 80-degree mark return on our weather graphics by Wednesday and Thursday.
All this warmth surging northward across the southeast has to cause trouble at some point. You mix winter temperatures to the north with a return of subtropical to tropical air across the south and you get some lovely instability turning in the atmosphere.
Models are indeed pinpointing another winter storm that could form as far south as the western Gulf once again. No, snow is very unlikely to occur this go around simply because of how much warmth will have come up across the region.
But, we’ll be tracking the potential for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms if this system can get cranking.
