February in Florida feels more like early May. When will stretch of warm weather break?

Cooler temps could reach Orlando area next week

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida is experiencing an interesting stretch of weather right now with foggy mornings leading to warm, sunny afternoons while a few fronts try to sneak in.

Let’s break it down.

Central Florida is waking up to dense fog advisories Monday morning, affecting many areas across the region. The fog is sticking around most of the week, making morning commutes a bit tricky. Visibility could be quite low, particularly before 10 a.m.

FOGGY MORNING

For another week, expect temperatures to feel more like early May than February, with temperatures creeping back up into the high 80s, even flirting with 90 degrees by week’s end.

HIGHS THURS

By the start of the week on Monday, expect a high around 84 degrees, which is about 10 degrees above average for this time of year.

Toward the latter part of the week, a weak front will begin to approach North Florida, building even warmer weather with highs nearing records on Thursday.

Highs vs Record

The weak front looks to move overhead by Valentine’s Day on Friday, cooling highs (slightly) back into the mid-80s with a slim 20% chance of scattered showers.

For those hoping to get a break from the spring-time sizzle, long range models show a switch in our weather pattern as the jet stream looks to take a bit of a dive by the middle to end of February.

The latest update from the Climate Prediction Center increases chances for near-to-below average temperatures in Central Florida starting by next week.

CPC OUTLOOK

While temperatures are expected to dip slightly, don’t break out the winter wardrobe just yet!
