Winter’s revenge: Cold air to plunge back into Central Florida after summer-like feel

40s set to return to Central Florida

More cold coming next week (Jonathan Kegges)

ORLANDO, Fla. – The blow torch has been on in February. All but one day through the first 12 days of the month has been in the 80s. Central Florida must be done with with winter, right?

Think again.

A series of cold fronts look to reintroduce the chill back into the Sunshine State.

The first, the smaller drop in temperatures, arrives Thursday night into Friday.

Highs will still be above average, topping out in the upper 70s.

A bigger cold front is forecast to arrive Sunday. The rain associated with the front could threaten a portion of the Daytona 500.

Behind that system, much cooler air spills back into Central Florida.

Highs will struggle to climb out of the 60s Monday afternoon. By Tuesday morning, the 40s return.

Tuesday morning

After a brief warmup for the middle of the week, another system sends another round of cold air down the Florida peninsula.

Temperature outlook

Temperatures are expected to be below normal for the third week of February.

While this cold won’t rival that of January, it will likely have you digging out the jacket again.
