Central Florida ready to March into longer days

March is here, bringing longer days and warmer weather

Daylight gained in March

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hello, March! The month has finally arrived, and Central Florida is about to experience some exciting changes. From longer, sunnier days to warmer temperatures and even the occasional spring storm, there’s a lot to look forward to this month.

As March rolls in, Central Florida will gain nearly 40 minutes of daylight over the next few weeks.

More daylight means more time to enjoy outdoor adventures, soak up the sun, or just hang out with friends as the evenings stretch out. And that’s not all – Daylight Saving Time kicks off on Sunday, March 9!

Daylight Saving Time

While we’ll lose an hour of sleep, we gain an extra hour of daylight in the evenings. Set your clocks ahead by one hour and “spring forward” into brighter, warmer days.

Those sunsets and sunrises will happen an hour later, bringing us one step closer to those summer vibes.

Can you believe the last time we saw sunsets and sunrises happening after 7 p.m. was back in early October?

March also marks the start of meteorological spring – a term used by weather experts to break up the year into neat seasons for forecasting purposes.

While the official first day of spring isn’t until March 20, we’re already feeling the shift toward warmer weather. This means blooming flowers, more sunshine, and yes – the occasional spring storm.

As the month goes on, expect more thunderstorm activity and fluctuating temperatures, so it might be a good idea to keep your umbrella and light jacket handy.
