ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida counties are opening shelters across the state ahead of Hurricane Helene. Prepare for the storm by knowing the local shelters in your area.
If you plan to visit a shelter, it is recommended to bring identification, food and water, medication, toiletries, baby supplies, bedding and pet supplies if your shelter allows pets.

Marion County
Westport High School: 3733 SW 80th Avenue, Ocala, FL
- The shelter will be open from 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, for residents with special needs.
- The shelter will be open to the public from 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25.
- Pets will be admitted into the shelter.

West Orange Recreation Center: 309 S. West Crown Point Road, Winter Garden, FL
- The shelter will be open to residents with special needs at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
Goldenrod Recreation Center: 863 N. Goldenrod Road, Winter Park, FL
- The shelter will be open to residents with special needs at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
Barnett Park: 4801 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL
- The shelter will be open to the public at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
