ORLANDO, Fla. – Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida as a powerful Category 3 storm Wednesday night before crossing over the state and moving offshore into the Atlantic.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 51 counties ahead of the storm. Orlando International Airport ceased operations on Wednesday and will resume those operations as soon as it’s safe.
