ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida public school students missed several days of school due to Hurricane Milton, which ripped across the state before moving into the Atlantic.
Here’s a county-by-county list of hurricane make-up days for Central Florida’s public school districts.
NOTE: This list will be updated as more information comes in.
BREVARD COUNTY
Brevard County students are set to return to classes on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell said on social media that the district has developed plans to make up for the four school days missed due to Hurricane Milton. Those plans were still being finalized at the time of the post, Friday.

FLAGLER COUNTY
Students, faculty and staff of Flagler district schools will return to campuses Monday, Oct. 14.

Lake County Schools expects to resume normal operations on Monday, Oct. 14.

MARION COUNTY
Marion County Public Schools plans to have students back in class Monday, Oct. 14, on normal schedules.
In a statement to News 6, Marion County Public Schools spokesperson Kevin Christian said that Nov. 25 is so far the only make-up day for students.
ORANGE COUNTY
Orange County public schools will reopen Tuesday, Oct. 15.
In a Friday statement, the district said it will only need to make up one of the four days missed due to hurricanes Milton and Helene.
The make-up day for Friday, Oct. 11, will be Friday, Oct. 25.
As a reminder, Monday was already a predetermined student holiday, teacher workday. All extracurricular and after-school activities may resume on Monday, October 14. Football games previously scheduled for this week will be played on Monday. Any athletic event and other student activities canceled due to the storm may be rescheduled, if possible. Practices may resume voluntarily this weekend.
We are grateful to our principals, assistant principals and additional staff who worked to service 11 school shelters during the storm as well as the clean up after Hurricane Milton.

OSCEOLA COUNTY
Osceola County students will return to school Tuesday, Oct. 15, and the first marking period will be extended to Friday, Oct. 18.
Make-up days for Hurricane Milton will be discussed over the next two weeks, the district said on social media.
POLK COUNTY
A decision has not been reached at the time of this report regarding whether school operations will resume on Monday, Oct. 14.
