ORLANDO, Fla. – There are six lists of names that are used in a rotation and recycled every six years.
The World Meteorological Organization’s hurricane committee officially retired Beryl, Helene and Milton from the rotating list of names after the 2024 hurricane season.
Hurricane names are recycled unless the storm is “so deadly or costly that the future use of its name on a different storm would be inappropriate for obvious reasons of sensitivity,” according to the WMO.
Below is a list of storm names for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season:
- Andrea

The 2024 hurricane season was extremely active and even more impactful.
Of the 18 named storms, three were so destructive that they will never appear on the rotating list of names again.
