Man dies after being pulled from Daytona Beach house fire

Pet dog rescued from blaze on Winchester Street

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A man has died after an early morning house fire in Daytona Beach, officials said.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Monday on Winchester Street.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department posted on its Facebook page that the victim was found suffering from burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital. The department confirmed on Tuesday that the victim died from their injuries.

“He may have made efforts to get out of the house and couldn’t make it all of the way out until the crews went in to rescue him out,” DBFD Lt. Antwan Lewis told News 6.

A pet was rescued in the fire, with a photo showing firefighters helping a dog.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
