It’s that time of year where the dreams switch to nightmares, pumpkins turn into jack-o-lanterns and houses become haunted.

Fall into the frights with this county-by-county list of local haunted houses, trails and Halloween events.

Brevard County

Banyan Farms Haunted Trail

  • When: Oct. 11-12
  • Where: 4245 Rector Road, Cocoa
  • What: Brave the dark unknown of the Camp Crystal Lake forest and Butcher’s barn. For families with children, a not so scary trail will be available. Refuel your screams with food trucks and concession stands. Tickets cost $10.

Haunted Jail Trail

  • When: Oct. 18-19, 25-26
  • Where: 860 Camp Road, Cocoa
  • What: Dodge sinister souls as they stalk you through the backwoods of the Brevard County Jail. Tickets cost $20.

Brevard Parks and Recreation Haunted Trail

  • When: Oct. 18-19, 25-26
  • Where: 1899 South Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island
  • What: Try to keep your cool as you walk (or run) through Brevard Parks and Recreation’s fright experience. Tickets cost $10 for ages 13 and up and $5 for ages 12 and under. Proceeds from the event will go to Brevard County Parks and Recreation and local nonprofits.

LaPorte Farms Haunted Barn

  • When: Oct. 24-30
  • Where: 7700 129th St., Sebastian
  • What: Do you dare to take on the mysteries of the LaPorte Farms Haunted Barn? Come face to face with the ghouls and goblins that wander the stalls of LaPorte Farms Haunted Barn. Tickets cost $10.

Waterbury Haunted Trail at Valkaria Farms

  • When: Oct. 12-26
  • Where: 550 Valkaria Road, Palm Bay
  • What: Hang with the dead in a Valkaria’s haunted tree nursery. See if you can make it out alive or if you will join the revengeful lost souls who entered but never found their way to the other side. Tickets cost $20 and $10 for children under 8.

Flagler County

Hall of Terror

  • When: Oct. 30-31
  • Where: 550 Valkaria Road, Palm Bay
  • What: Step into the world of slashers and try your best to survive as the Palm Coast Fire Department brings horror movie icons to life. This year, the event will feature food trucks to feed your fear.

Monster Mash 2: Trouble Behind the Mask

  • When: Oct. 5, 12, 19, 25 and 26
  • Where: 9600 N. Oceanshore Blvd., Saint Augustine
  • What: Come face to face with the man behind the mask with six featured fright experiences featuring spine-chilling haunted houses to creepy clown shows and tours through the slender man riddled woods. Tickets cost $29.95 for ages 13 and up and $24.95 for children 5 to 12 years old.

Lake County

Dr. Grimley’s Haunted Trail

  • When: Sept. 28-Nov. 2
  • Where: 40541 Roger Giles Road, Umatilla
  • What: The lights are out in Umatilla and the town is in the dark. Trek through two terrifying trails filled with an eerie carnival of puppets and Dr. Grimely’s mine of lost souls. Tickets start at $10.

Fear Reach Scream Park

  • When: Sept. 28-Oct. 31
  • Where: 1255 S. Dora Blvd., Tavares
  • What: Is an old barn filled with dismembered dead bodies scary enough for you? How about a manor and graveyard cursed with cult spells? Survive the terror of the Bloodline Barn and the Grimoire Manor to be chased by a chainsaw maniac. Catch your gasping breath at the Pitchfork Parlor and Barn with live music by The Dismembered and chilling cocktails. Tickets cost $20.

Scream Scenes Mystic Manor

  • When: Sept. 27-Oct. 31
  • Where: Leesburg, 10401 US-441, Leesburg
  • What: Feel your goosebumps raise as you scream your way through the Lake Square Mall’s scariest Mystic Manor. Tickets cost $5.

Tales of Terror

  • When: Oct. 11-13, 19-20, 25-27
  • Where: 14200 Corkwood Lane, Astatula
  • What: Get lost in the upside down world of a cursed Neverland where dreams become nightmares and face the feral souls that infest the land. Tickets start at $20.

Marion County

Brownwood Paddock Square Hometown Halloween

  • When: Oct. 25-26
  • Where: 2705 W. Torch Lake Drive, The Villages
  • What: Transport back in time to the 50s and enter the mind of a demented woman or sneak through a twisted carnival at Brownwood Paddock Square Hometown Halloween’s haunted houses. If you survive the scares, enjoy trunk or treating, enter your furry friend in a pet costume contest, play carnival games and listen to live music. This event is free to attend.

Haunted Trail

  • When: Oct. 4-31
  • Where: 5733 SW 116th PL Road, Ocala
  • What: Meet menacing animatronics as they emerge from the forest shadows. With no jump scares or actors, this trail is open to all ages and is perfect for little ones looking for a fun fright.

Wayne’s World Nightmare on Pine Street

  • When: Oct. 11-12, 18-19 and 25-26
  • Where: 4841 S. Pine Ave., Ocala
  • What: Face your fears through five acres of haunted attractions at Wayne’s World Nightmare on Pine Street. Tickets cost $15 and $10 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will benefit Toys for Tots.

Orange County

The Allen Asylum Motel for the Insane

  • When: Oct. 25, 26 and 31
  • Where: 9239 Cypress Cove Drive, Orlando
  • What: Feel your heart pound through the abandoned corridors of an asylum for the insane as the souls of tortured patients terrorize visitors.

Haunting Nights

  • When: Sept. 27-Oct. 31
  • Where: Leu Gardens, 1920 N. Forest Ave., Orlando
  • What: Be sure to check over your shoulder as bigfoot lurks through the swamp. Celebrate making it out alive with spooky snacks and devilish drinks while listening to live music. Tickets cost $21 for adults and $21 for children ages 3 to 11.

Osceola County

Mortem Manor

  • When: Year-round, Tuesday through Sunday
  • Where: 5770 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee
  • What: Uncover the mysteries hidden within the walls of the hexed Mortem Manor and come face to face with its disturbed residents. Tickets cost $19.99.

Seminole County

Face the Fear

  • When: Oct. 18-19, 25-26
  • Where: 817 E. State Road 434, Winter Springs
  • What: Discover the wicked creations of an experiment gone wrong at Tech-Wood Institutes. Tickets cost $15 and $10 for children age 10 and under.

A Petrified Forest

  • When: Oct. 4-Nov. 2
  • Where: 1360 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs
  • What: What’s that lurking in the shadows? Escape the watchful eyes of hidden creatures through three bloodcurdling scare trails. Tickets cost $34.98.

Sumter County

Dade’s Haunted Event

  • When: Oct. 25-26
  • Where: 7200 CR 603 Bushnell
  • What: Put your fear factor to the test as your endure Dade’s Haunted Trail. The event will also include games, a puppet show, crafts, costume contest and storytellers. Tickets cost $5. The event is free for children under 5-years-old.

Polk County

Ominous Descent

  • When: Oct. 4-5, 11-13, 18-20, 25-27 and Nov. 1-2
  • Where: 2305 Havendale Blvd. NW, Winter Haven
  • What: Become immersed in the violent world of the sadistic Harris house. Try to hold on to your own sanity as you uncover the dreadful truths of Finn Harris’ manic life. Tickets start at $20.

Haunted Jail Tour

  • When: Oct. 18-19, 25-26
  • Where: 455 North Broadway, Bartow
  • What: Scream your heart out through a haunted tour of the Polk County Sheriff Office. Along with the haunted tour, enjoy a bounce house, food trucks and participate in the deputy dunk. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for children.

The Haunting of River Ranch

  • When: Oct. 4-Nov. 2
  • Where: Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo
  • What: “The Haunting of River Ranch takes guests on new experiences and calls upon the spirits for a witching good time. The Curse of Kicco the Clown continues with a new twist this year, adding even more fright to the festivities. Brave the Haunted Stables before your ride begins and experience a haunted hayride that uncovers a bone-chilling tale never-before-heard at the ranch. Plus, explore scare zones, indulge in festive food and beverages, strike a pose at spooky photo ops, and dive into the Spooky Adventure Park for a Halloween adventure like no other!”

Volusia County

Ward of Oz

  • When: Oct. 24-27, Oct. 31, Nov. 1-3
  • Where: 355 Cassadaga Road, Lake Helen
  • What: Meet ouija board demon Zozo, in this twisted rendition of Oz where the fairytale turns into a horror story. Tickets cost $20.

Blackwood Castle

  • When: Oct. 17-19, Oct. 24-26
  • Where: 222 E. University Ave., Orange City
  • What: Enter the grim realm of Blackwood Castle and hear the distant echoes of screams as you try to ignore the stalking shadows. There’s only one way out and that’s through. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $6 for children under 10.
