Randy Fine, Josh Weil win their primaries; will face off in US House District 6 special election

Election for voters in Flagler, Lake, Marion and Volusia counties

ORLANDO, Fla. – Voters in four Central Florida counties on Tuesday decided the Republican and Democratic candidates for a special election to replace Mike Waltz in U.S. House District 6.

Waltz, who won reelection in November to represent parts of Flagler, Lake, Marion and Volusia counties, was tapped to be President Trump’s national security advisor.

State Sen. Randy Fine, of Melbourne Beach won the Republican nomination special primary election, besting Aaron Baker, a general contractor from Sorrento, and and Ehsan Joarder a business owner from Brooksville.

Josh Weil an educator from Orlando, won the Democratic nomination, defeating George A. “Ges” Selmont, a filmmaker from Elkton.

The winners of the two primaries will go to a general election set for April 1.

Remember, you can vote in a party primary and still vote in the general election later this year.

In Flagler County, you can find your polling precinct and more on the Flagler County Supervisor of Elections website. All voters in Flagler are eligible for this election.

In Lake County, you can find polling precinct information on the Lake County Supervisor of Elections website. Voters in much of north Lake County are in CD-6.

Marion County voters can find their polling precinct information on the Marion County Supervisor of Elections website. Voters in east Marion County are eligible to vote in this election.

Volusia County voters can find their polling places on the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections website. Voters in the northern part of the county are eligible to vote in this election.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
