ORLANDO, Fla. – Occasional sprinkles will continue to stream across Central Florida for another day as we remain under a strong onshore breeze.
There will be gusts near the coast up to 20-30 mph, causing dangerous conditions along the beaches and offshore waters. A high risk of rip currents and a small craft advisory is in effect through Thursday.
Partly cloudy skies with mild temperatures are to be expected, with highs in the mid- to low 80s in the Orlando area.
The large ridge of high pressure that has kept us mainly dry this week will soon start to slightly weaken, causing the breeze to loosen its grip into the weekend and keeping a slight chance of rain in the forecast.
WEEKEND FORECAST
The latest global models are now hinting at two different weather stories for the weekend, which will alter our chances of rain on Saturday and Sunday.
GFS Model: An area of low pressure in the Atlantic tied up with the remnants of what will eventually become post-tropical storm Tammy will remain keep moisture away from Central Florida this weekend.
EURO Model: This model shows a piece of low pressure breaking off from Tammy, sending it west toward the Bahamas, bringing higher rain chances for the weekend, especially for the coast.
At this point, we have increased rain chances slightly to 20-30% on Saturday and Sunday.
NEXT WEEK’S FORECAST
For your Halloween on Tuesday, we are looking mainly dry, with high temperatures running near average in the mid-80s. Temperatures will gradually cool into the 70s for trick-or-treaters as the sun goes down.
Right after the holiday, a cold front is expected near Central Florida, funneling in slightly cooler and drier air by the middle to end of next week.
