ORLANDO, Fla. – A soggy weather pattern is setting up Tuesday across Florida and will keep the Sunshine State under plenty of clouds and rain through the rest of the week.

On Tuesday, rounds of tropical downpours spilled into Central Florida, with coverage increasing to 70-90% through the day. The National Hurricane Center highlighted the area of low pressure over the eastern Gulf of Mexico for potential tropical development over the next several days.

RAINY SETUP

With on-and-off rain expected, we could rack up 1-2 inches of rain to the north of I-4 and close to 2-3 inches further south by the end of the day. We can’t rule out the chance for locally higher amounts where we see repeated rounds of heavy rain.

With the chance for impressive rain accumulations, minor flooding could be possible for flood-prone neighborhoods.

The exact track of the deepest tropical moisture is still being ironed out between models with the American model transporting more rain into Central Florida than the European models.

The added clouds and rain-cooled air will keep temperatures at their coolest point in more than a month -- in the mid-80s.
