Soggy, warm day in Central Florida; big cool down late-week

Rain coverage picks up midday

ORLANDO, Fla. – After a humid and foggy Tuesday morning, expect conditions to remain soggy with another surge of scattered showers moving in through the afternoon and early evening.

Rain outlook:

The highest chances of rain will be along the coast, with the potential for heavy rainfall, especially if cells move slowly or train over the same areas.

While most places will see less than a quarter inch of rain, some areas, especially closer to southern Brevard, could pick up 1-3 inches. The chance for heavy downpours will continue tonight, particularly in repeated rain bands.

Rain Chances - Tuesday

Some patchy fog could develop late tonight into early Wednesday morning, particularly along the I-4 corridor.

On Wednesday, moisture will surge into the area, with plenty of moisture lingering through early Thursday. Expect rain chances of 50-70 percent on Wednesday and into Wednesday night, slowly tapering off to 20-40 percent on Thursday as the first of two cold front moves through.

A secondary (dry) cold front will move through the state on Friday, bringing the winter blast with it.

Temperature outlook:

Temperatures on Tuesday will be in the upper 70s to near 80°F at the coast, with some low 80s inland. Into the evening, lows will remain unseasonably warm in the 60s across the area.

Temperatures will stay fairly steady through Wednesday in the 80s, then dip a few degrees on Thursday. Highs will be in the low to mid-70s on Friday, with highs dropping below average in the 60s on Saturday and Sunday.

Lows by the weekend will be in the 40s and possibly even the upper 30s for some inland areas early Saturday and Sunday. Wind chills could even drop into the upper 20s to low 40s on those chilly mornings.

Christmas Outlook

Heading into Christmas, a gradual warming trend back to normal is expected by Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with highs returning to the mid to low 70s.
