Scattered showers in Central Florida ahead of rounds of cold fronts. Here’s what to know

Rain chances will be on the rise through afternoon, into evening

ORLANDO, Fla. – The unsettled and soggy weather continues another day as Central Florida remains stuck between a weak disturbance off the east coast and an approaching cold front to our north.

Along with a few scattered showers along the coastline early Wednesday, neighborhoods north and west of I-4 are waking up under foggy conditions. A dense fog advisory is in effect for Marion and Flagler counties until 10 a.m.

Daily Setup

Rain chances will be on the rise through the afternoon and into the evening hours as the front tracks further south.

This means another day with a good chance of rain, with 40-50% chances inland and 50-70% near the coast, highest along the southern Brevard coastline. Isolated lightning storms will remain possible, especially near the coast and over the coastal waters. The main threats will be heavy rain, occasional lightning and brief gusty winds.

Rain Chances - Wednesday

While most places will get less than a quarter inch of rain, some areas — particularly near the Space Coast — could see 1 to 2 inches.

Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees, with a few areas inland reaching the low 80s. Tonight will be another mild night, with lows in the low to mid-60s. Models are showing the possibility of patchy fog, some of it locally dense, particularly along east Central Florida overnight into Thursday morning.

Looking ahead, the cold front will move across Central Florida on Thursday, followed by another drier cold front by Friday. The combination of these two fronts will deliver cooler and drier air down the state for the weekend.

Temp Trend - Next 7 Days

Expect rain chances to drop to around 20-30% on Thursday, and then mostly dry conditions for most areas through the weekend. When it comes to the temperatures, they will cool slightly on Thursday and Friday, with highs in the low to mid-70s and then dipping into the 60s on Saturday.

Overnight lows by the weekend will dip into the low 40s. For early Saturday and Sunday mornings, wind chills could drop into the upper 30s to low 40s inland, especially west of I-95.

Sunday Morning Lows

By Sunday and into next week, an area of high pressure will build in, starting a gradual warming trend early next week.

Expect highs to return back to near normal in the low to mid 70s by Christmas. Click here for more on your Christmas week outlook.
