ORLANDO, Fla. – Few scattered storms possible on Monday before the coldest stretch of weather since December 2022 moves in.
Monday will be the warmest day in Central Florida for a while, with afternoon temperatures pushing into the 70s ahead of a big arctic cold front. Through the day, winds are expected to pick up with gusts between 25-35 mph.
Into Monday afternoon, rain and storms associated with the cold front will move in, increasing rain chances to 30-60%.
While the threat for severe weather remains very low, the Storm Predication Center has highlighted northern neighborhoods for the potential of isolated strong to severe storms.
The line of rain and storms will weaken as it tracks through the area, exiting south by sundown.
Behind the front, winds will quickly shift out of the northwest at 10-15 miles, driving in much colder air by early Tuesday.
We could see out coldest wind chills of the week on Tuesday, dipping into the upper 20s to low 30s in most areas. Actual air temperatures overnight will range from the low low 30s north of Orlando to near 40 along the Space Coast.
Widespread frost will be possible through the next few mornings, starting Tuesday through Thursday, with freeze concerns for areas northwest of I-4 corridor.
As of writing this article Monday morning, no official advisories have been issued yet but that will change through the day. So make sure to check back in with any new updates.
Afternoon highs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will remain about 15 degrees cooler than normal in the mid to upper 50s.
Due to the significant cold, the News 6 Weather Team has designated Tuesday as an “Inconvenient Weather Day.”
We should begin to slightly thaw out by the end of the week and into the weekend with highs rebounding back into the 60s in the afternoon before another front approaches Saturday. Besides a few scattered showers, the front will bring cooler weather again on Sunday with highs expected to stay in the low 60s.
