ORLANDO, Fla. – It is a cool start to the workweek with wake-up temperatures starting off in the 40s and 50s.
A freeze warning is in effect for Marion and Flagler counties until 10 a.m., while a cold weather advisory continues through the morning for Marion, Sumter and Flagler counties.
MONDAY:
Colder, drier air is moving down the Florida peninsula as a cold front stalls just to the south. We’ll see mid and high clouds streaming overhead, with a few breaks allowing for some sunshine into the day. Temperatures will be much colder than usual, only reaching the low to mid 50s and upper 40s for northern counties.
Monday night, the front to our south will start moving north again, bringing clouds and showers from south to north. The coldest temperatures will be found north of I-4 early, dipping into the upper 30s and low 40s. Along the the southern coast, temperatures will stay in the low to mid 50s. After that, temperatures should level off as clouds enter the area.
TUESDAY - WEDNESDAY:
Looking ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday, expect gloomy conditions with on-and-off rain from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening as a cold front retreats back north. Along this stalled front, a wave of disturbed weather will spread into Florida and nearby Gulf Coast states.
The combination of these two features will increase winds, especially Tuesday night into Wednesday, with gusts around 40 mph along the coast. Rain chances will be high, with 70-90% on Tuesday and Tuesday night, dropping slightly to 50-70% on Wednesday as the disturbance moves away.
While Central Florida should remain clear of any winter precipitation, we can’t say the same for our friends in North Florida. Click here to see how much snow parts of Florida could see this week!
In the meantime, temperatures are expected to remain chilly with highs remaining in the 40s and mid 50s Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Expect lingering clouds and scattered showers, which should taper off by the end of the day.
THURSDAY - WEEKEND:
The unsettled weather continues as another pulse of moisture rides along the same stalled out front, keeping scattered showers (40-50%) Thursday.
By Friday and Saturday, we’ll see significant drying, with the coldest weather of the week.
Temperatures will drop into the 30s across most areas by Saturday morning, with low to mid 40s along the coast. But the sunshine should return, and temperatures will gradually back into the 60s by the weekend.
