ORLANDO, Fla. – All the talk and news of the historic snow storm from Monday in the Florida Panhandle has left the rest of the Sunshine State feeling a bit of FOMO (feeling of missing out).
So it is no surprise that overnight videos are all over social media from Central Floridians excited to see “snow flurries” falling in their backyards. We’ve seen videos stretching from Volusia County over to Lake and even as far south as Osceola County.

But don’t get too excited, a snow day is NOT in our cards this time around.
Although the videos below look convincing of snow, it is actually just light rain and drizzle playing a trick on us as temperatures overnight remained well above the freezing mark of 32 degrees.

So what are we actually seeing on these videos?
When the rain is small and light enough, it could easily suspend and dance around on the wind in the cold night air. If you add a little twinkle from street lights or infrared from night vison on security cameras, it easily looks bright white, giving you a faux snow show!
While snow is NOT in the near future for Central Florida, snow is not impossible here. The last time measurable snow was reported was in 2008 in Daytona Beach, with about 0.7 inches of the white stuff.
