ORLANDO, Fla. – The Sunshine State will FINALLY be living up to its name Friday afternoon, with temperatures staying chill for another day.
Brisk northerly winds will keep highs in the mid to upper 50s, which is well below normal.
But hold on to your heavy coats as it will get even COLDER Friday night and into early Saturday morning.
With clear skies and a north breeze, temperatures are forecast to slide into the 30s for most areas, though the coast from the Cape south will stay in the low to mid 40s. The coldest neighborhoods in Marion, northern Lake, Sumter counties could see official lows in the 20s!
A freeze warning has been issued from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday for northwestern counties. Further south, frost is possible in more sheltered spots, but it’s a little trickier due to stronger winds and drier air.
Wind chills could feel as low as the mid-20s to mid-30s early Saturday, so we’ll probably need another Cold Weather Advisory for much of east-Central Florida.
Due to these frigid conditions, the News6 Pinpoint Weather Team has designated it a Weather Alert Morning.
Heading into the weekend, after a cold start Saturday, we’ll warm up a bit. Highs will still be below average, but not as cold as Friday, with temps reaching the upper 50s to low 60s.
The warming trend will continue into Sunday, with Saturday night lows in the 40s for most areas, and upper 30s in the typically colder spots northwest of I-4. Sunday will feel a little closer to normal with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Lows Sunday night will be in the mid-40s to mid-50s. Dry conditions will stick around through the weekend.
Looking ahead to next week, high pressure will settle over the region, bringing in more warmth and keeping the weather dry. Highs will be in the 70s with lows in the 50s.
