Central Florida to head into 80s end of week before weak cold front sweeps through

Dense fog advisory in effect for parts of Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – A dense fog advisory remains in effect for Lake, Marion and Sumter counties until 10 a.m. Thursday, with visibility remaining less than a quarter mile. For your morning commute, make sure to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. Visibility should improve by mid to late Thursday morning.

High pressure sticks around for another day, allowing temperatures to climb quickly under mostly clear skies into the mid to upper 70s. Tonight, temperatures will dip into the mid 50s to low 60s, which is a few degrees above normal for late January with another round of patchy fog.

We could see some patchy fog again Friday morning. Expect gusts up to 20 mph, with some areas possibly reaching 25 mph. Temperatures will climb into the 80s, which will be the latest first 80-degree day since 2021.

By Saturday, a weakening cold front approaches the area bringing in a slight chance (10-20%) of light showers. We’re not expecting measurable rain, with temperatures on Saturday a touch cooler in the mid to low 70s.

The warming trend kick starts on Sunday as high pressure settles in, keeping conditions generally warmer than normal.

Models do differ slightly as a stalled out front could keep a slim chance of rain over the area through the first half of next week. At this point, we’ll keep conditions mainly dry with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s.

The latest outlooks suggest the first part of February will be warmer than usual, with slightly below normal rain in east-Central Florida.
