HOT in Central Florida ahead of cold fronts ramping up rain chances this week. Here’s what to expect

Dense fog advisory in effect for Volusia, northern Brevard counties

ORLANDO, Fla. – The February heat wave continues for the next few days with even hotter days by the end of the week.

Patchy dense fog remains in place across parts of Central Florida early Tuesday morning, with a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 9 a.m. for Volusia and northern Brevard counties.

Dense Fog Advisory

Once the fog lifts and dissipates, plenty of sunshine will help warm temperatures to climb well above average in the mid 80s inland and upper 70s along the coast.

Forecast Highs Tuesday

By Thursday, temperatures are expected to climb close to 90 degrees ahead of our next approaching cold front.

Not only will it be record breaking for daily highs, it could break the record for the earliest 90-degree day. The current record holder is Feb. 15 in 1935. Coastal areas might see temps in the low 80s with warmer readings inland. It’s shaping up to be the warmest day of the year so far.

Forecast Highs vs. Record

As we move into the weekend, a cold front is forecasted to bring increased rain chances starting Friday, with a coverage of about 30% as it passes overhead.

There’s a brief break from rain chances on Saturday before a stronger storm rolls through on Sunday. Along this front, a 40-50% chance of rain and storms could have an impact to the Daytona 500 with potential weather delays in the afternoon.

Daytona Speedweek

Once the front clears late Sunday, much cooler temperatures settle in with highs backing down to near normal in the mid 70s starting early next week.

The Climate Prediction Center continues to show a higher chance for near to below normal temperatures through the rest of February.
