LIVE RADAR: Gulf system bringing rounds of rain to Central Florida. Here’s what to know

Widespread showers with heavy rain, gusty winds possible

ORLANDO, Fla. – An area of low-pressure moving in from the Gulf will continue to surge rain and even the chance of a few storms into Central Florida on Monday, racking up beneficial rain and keeping pollen numbers down.

Light morning showers will lead to heavier rainfall as the day goes on, especially south of Orlando, where the highest moisture levels are concentrated. By the afternoon and evening, we’re looking at widespread showers (about 80% chance) with a low risk of a few isolated thunderstorms.

Rain Chances Monday

These storms won’t be severe, but they could bring occasional lightning, brief heavy rain and gusty winds that could reach up to 35 mph. With this consistent rain, many locations could rack up significant rainfall for this time of the year, with totals reaching 1-2 inches by early Tuesday.

Rain Totals

Fortunately, the ground is still fairly dry, so flooding isn’t a major concern —though you might see some ponding on roads, especially in low-lying areas.

Temperatures on Monday will top out in the upper 60s, with a few spots near Melbourne reaching low 70s.

By Tuesday, a few lingering morning coastal showers remain in the forecast as the system exits out into the Atlantic followed by a gradual drying trend through Thursday.

The real big change comes later this week with a cold front moving through Thursday night into early Friday. This front will bring a slight chance of light rain Thursday night into Friday, but don’t expect much in the way of significant rain.

Upper Level Charts

Behind the front, cooler, drier air will settle in for the weekend, though temperatures will bounce back by Sunday and Monday.

Looking ahead:

  • Tuesday: Highs in the low 70s, with a few coastal showers lingering in the morning. It will be dry inland.
  • Wednesday: Highs in the mid to upper 70s, with more dry weather.
  • Thursday: Next approaching front could push highs near 80 before the colder air arrives.
  • Friday and the Weekend: Cooler weather in the upper 60s and low 70s with plenty of sunshine.

Make sure to have your umbrella handy through most of the day. Keep an eye on the skies, and enjoy the cooler, drier weather coming our way later this week!
