HOT week in Central Florida before next shot of cooler air. Here’s when

Next cold front to give relief to the heat

ORLANDO, Fla. – We’re looking at a pretty typical summer-like day here in Central Florida as a weak front weakens and dissipates before making it to the area.

A muggy Tuesday morning will increase the chance of some patchy fog, especially in Orange, Seminole, Lake, and Osceola counties. If there is any fog, it should burn off by 9 a.m.

Later on Tuesday, the sea breeze will start to form again on both coasts and push inland. The areas most likely to see rain and storms will be along the interior neighborhoods where the sea breezes will collide.

Rain Chances Today

Although we don’t expect storms as strong as yesterday, some stronger ones are still possible later today and into the evening. The atmosphere is still unstable, with enough moisture and heat to spark some rain. The biggest threats from these storms will be gusty winds (around 40-50 mph), lightning, small hail, and locally heavy rain.

By late Tuesday evening, most of the rain will shift out to the coast and into the Atlantic, leaving us with dry conditions overnight. Temperatures will stay above normal, with highs in the upper 80s inland and mid-80s along the coast.

THROUGH THE WEEKEND

High pressure will be in control for the rest of the week, setting us up for a quiet calm but hot trend. High pressure is expected to stay over the Florida peninsula through the weekend. This means we’ll see mostly sunny skies and light southeast winds at around 10 mph inland and 10-15 mph along the coast.

Highs This Week

Expect afternoon highs to stay well above normal, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s to low 90s inland, and low to mid 80s along the coast.

No rain is expected throughout the week, with just the daily sea breeze pushing inland each afternoon.

NEXT WEEK

Next week, things will change a bit. The upper-level jet will dig south from the Midwest, bringing a cold front to our area.

Ahead of the front on Monday, we’ll see a 20-40% chance of rain and storms. The rain chances will increase a bit further on Tuesday (40-50%) as the front moves through.

Cooler Outlook Next Week

A much more noticeable drop in temperature will be felt on Tuesday with highs staying in the mid-70s in the north, and upper 70s to low 80s in the south.

Overnight lows will dip into the mid to upper 50s inland and low 60s along the coast on Tuesday night.
